Description

1941-S Dime, MS68+ Full Bands
Condition Census Rarity

1941-S 10C MS68+ Full Bands PCGS. Is this piece tied for the finest known 1941-S Mercury dime? Perhaps so, at least at PCGS, which is important for Registry collectors. PCGS reports three coins in MS68+ Full Bands and none finer, which ranks this piece among the best. NGC also lists a handful of comparable pieces, including two MS68+ pieces and two more in MS68+★ , all with Full Bands. However, only of these top seven coins has previously appeared in our auctions, and the current piece is the only Condition Census Full Bands coin we have seen in a PCGS holder (7/25). That renders it a unique offering as far as practical considerations go. Ribbons of multicolor toning flow through the margins, leaving the interiors mostly brilliant. The strike sharp, the fields satiny and pristine. Population: 33 in 68 (3 in 68+) Full Bands, 0 finer (7/25).(Registry values: N1793)
