Description

1942/1 FS-101 Dime, MS63
Colorfully Toned Overdate

1942/1 10C FS-101 MS63 ANACS. The FS-101 is a popular and widely collected overdate -- bold and easily identifiable, since the 2 is punched slightly right of the 1 to resemble a 12. With a few thousand pieces attributed by the grading services, the FS-101 variety is an available Cherrypickers' variety in circulated grades. Among Mint State examples, however, the variety becomes conditionally rare, as PCGS shows just 129 such pieces (9/25). This Select Uncirculated example is lustrous and fully toned, with deep plum and cobalt-blue surfaces highlighted with occasional glimpses of original mint silver and splashes of amber-gold. Abrasions are light and grade-consistent, but require considerable effort to locate within the vibrant, richly toned landscape.
