Full Bands 1945-P Dime, MS64
The Key to the Set With Full Bands

1945 10C MS64 Full Bands NGC. When Full Bands were first being examined on the various Mercury dime issues in the mid-1970s, Harold Kritzman made the curious discovery that the hugely minted 1945-P was the key to the set with Full Bands. Dealers and collectors began to search for this issue, but few were found in rolls. The one reliable source for fully split 1945-P dimes were coins that were struck slightly off center. This piece has fully split central bands on the reverse as well as completely separated diagonal bands. The obverse is untoned, while the reverse shows just a bit of light reddish patina. A few tiny marks account for the grade. Census: 7 in 64 Full Bands, 11 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N1793)
