Description

1945 Dime, MS65 Full Bands
Late-Series Strike Rarity

1945 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. The two 1942 overdates excepted, the 1945 Mercury dime is the only issue in the series struck after the 1920s that is genuinely scarce in Full Bands regardless of grade. Examples are seldom seen in MS65, and they are rare finer. The scarcity of the Full Bands coins stands in stark contrast to the ample availability of non-Full Bands examples, which are seen with regularity through MS67.

For Registry collectors, this Gem Full Bands representative represents an outstanding acquisition, as few superior pieces have appeared at auction in recent years. Ivory-white luster complements a satiny appearance, while the strike sharpness lacks nothing either in the centers or around the border legends. A couple of microscopic grazes on Liberty's cheek appear to be all that prevent an even finer designation. Population: 40 in 65 Full Bands, 24 finer (9/23).(Registry values: N2998)
