    Description

Conditionally Rare 1919-D MS65 Full Bands Dime

1919-D 10C MS65 Full Bands NGC. A conditionally rare early Mercury that is extremely elusive with fully split bands. This is a strongly detailed coin that also has well defined peripheries. The thick, satiny luster is covered with colorful hues of green, crimson, russet, and gold that deepens at the borders over both sides. There are no distracting blemishes, just a few microscopic ticks in the center of the obverse. The elusiveness of this issue is apparent in the population reports. NGC and PCGS combined have certified only 16 specimens at this level, with just five finer (8/05). Moreover, our auction records indicate that the major auction houses have offered, over the last ten or so years, only 14 coins graded MS65 and four rated finer. Population: 4 in 65, 0 finer (8/05).(#4925) (Registry values: N4719)
