Charles & Johanna "Early Series" 4 Reales ND (1538-1542) M-G AU50 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0016, Cal-119. 13.28gm. Assayer G below pillars. An especially desirable issue with assayers initial G and rectangular lozenge, a type seemingly encountered less frequently than other "Early Series" issues, but always a joy to see. The obverse is well-centered while the reverse remains lightly askew but fully identifiable regardless. Only minor instances of honest wear can be noted to the raised features to define the grade, and with no examples designated Mint State, this remains an elusive opportunity to acquire an example of this collectible type so fine.From the Long Island Collection
