Mexico: Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1765 Mo-MF AU53 NGC,...
Description
Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1765 Mo-MF AU53 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM155, Fr-29, Cal-1989. A fiercely collected type within the "portrait" series' of Spanish Colonial numismatics that are notoriously difficult to acquire in high grade, across pretty much all denominations. Though this is certainly not one of the scarcer dates in the Mexico City 8 Escudos "cara de rata" series, the lengths at which collectors will go to acquire quality pieces such as this are substantial. The current specimen is a tad flat on certain portions of Carlos' hair and collar, but quite well-struck elsewhere. Any problem free "rat-nose" 8 Escudos in problem-free AU certification is an enviable selection. From the Anastasia Collection
