An Unusually High Grade 20 Pesos of Emperor MaximilianMaximilian gold 20 Pesos 1866-Mo MS64 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM389, Fr-62. A wonderfully preserved example of this romantic and popular type, showing full, bright luster and attractive orange-golden color. The strike is quite strong for the issue while the lustrous and reflective surfaces display only a few handling marks well within the confines of the designation. Very Rare and most desirable in this Choice quality with only one piece certified finer by NGC and PCGS combined. The recently auctioned ex-Lissner example was also graded MS64 by NGC and hammered at $18,000.
Estimate: $15,000 - $20,000.
