Description

Rare Near-Uncirculated "MX" Mintmarked 8 Reales

Philip V 8 Reales 1733 MX-MF AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM103. Nearly Mint State with very faint friction evidence on the higher devices, strong underlying luster under pleasant old patination and sharply rendered details. A minute flan flaw at 12 o'clock is useful for pedigree reconstruction yet does not deter from the charming eye-appeal of the piece. Currently the finest example of this highly sought-after type at either NGC or PCGS, a most attractive and desirable coin with a superb pedigree.
Ex. Norweb collection (Christie's Dallas 5/1985, lot 174).
