Description

Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1746/5 Mo-MF AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Fr-8, Cal-2251. A fleeting overdate from this revered portrait type Philip V 8 Escudos from the Mexico City mint. Last witnessed at auction with our firm in April of 2016, nearly a decade before the present occurrence. This specimen boasts a tan orange patina that is both dignified and luminous, yielding much of the original mint bloom imparted to this piece by the mint over 275 years ago. One of only two NGC examples currently certified at this impressive near-Mint State level, nearly a "Top Pop".
