Description

Republic 8 Reales 1847 Do-RM AU55 NGC, Durango mint, KM377.4, DP-Do24. Lightly toned and sharply struck with faint wear on the raised devices and partial underlying luster. A most pleasant example of this very scarce date, no Mint State examples of which have been certified at either NGC or PCGS, quite elusive in this engaging preservation (DP notes "an Extremely Fine example is a rare grade for this date") and superior to the AU53 PCGS J. B. Parker example (Stack's Bowers and Ponterio 11/2015, lot 42596 for $700).
