Description
Republic 8 Reales 1849 Do-JMR/CM MS61 NGC, Durango mint, KM377.4, DP-Do26. Style of 1842-1848 and "8 Rs" in the denomination (DP: "extremely rare"). Choice for the designation with partially lustrous and attractive surfaces with delicate golden toning. Faint "B" and "G" initials of Bernardo Georgy are found on the rays on the obverse. A scarce date in any grade, currently the finest (and only Mint State) certified and likely the finest extant example of the 1849 Do-JMR large eagle subtype, thus a special and most desirable coin for the specialist of this challenging and popular series. From the FoxLair Collection
