Description

Republic 8 Reales 1865 C-CE MS66 NGC, Culiacan mint, KM-377.3, DP-Cn22. Five-pointed star variety. Gem Mint State with superb, fully lustrous surfaces essentially devoid of any handling evidence as expected for this lofty designation and a strong strike for this issue with good detail on the eagle's breast. Conditionally very rare in this outstanding quality. Currently the single finest certified example of this date by either NGC or PCGS and a natural candidate for the finest extant 1865 dated 8 Reales of Mexico since a finer specimen would be hard to imagine. A true wonder coin for this popular series, and one that would grace even the most refined cabinet of Mexican coins.
