Description

Republic Cap & Rays 8 Reales 1866 Ca-FP, KM377.2, DP-Ca40, MS61 NGC. Well struck for the issue, with a deeply toned reverse and lustrous obverse. This is the first example of this extremely rare issue that we have offered, and it is, by far, the finest that we have noted in previous auctions or price lists. The J.B. Parker coin, sold by Superior in 1998, was graded XF, and from the catalog picture not even close to this piece in grade. It sold for $3300 at that time.
