"Sombrerete de Vargas" refers to a series of silver coins minted between 1810 and 1812 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, during the Mexican War of Independence. These coins were produced under the authority of General Fernando Vargas, a Royalist leader who established a provisional mint to support the local economy and fund the Royalist cause amid the conflict.
