Description
1857 Large Cent "Cent Box." An interesting item for the large cent collector, similar to the "Box Thalers" of the 19th century. While this is not an actual coin, it is a hollowed out representation of an 1857 large cent with two overlapping pieces that, when put together, resemble a real coin. Items such as this were presumably used to store or hide small items or contraband.
