Ephraim Brasher Silver Sugar Urn
Silver Sugar Urn by Ephraim Brasher. Weight: 11.12 troy ounces. Height: 9.75 inches. Diameter: 4 inches. E·B hallmark is double punched on the opposite sides of the base edge in an oval shape. Elaborate engraving on the side forms a space for engraved initials or a monogram, neither of which was ever added. Beaded edge with engraved bordering, and beaded around the base. Two rings of beading appear on the lid. There is little evidence of use, and the interior retains its original hammered surface. Brasher's hallmarks are only slightly worn from polishing. Likely crafted in the late 1780s.Ex: Donald G. Partrick.
