Description

Treasure of Forrest Fenn.

Tairona Necklace with Gold and Stone Pendants

Colombia, circa 500 - 1000 AD
Dimensions: Roughly 25 inches

An attractive assemblage of a variety of ancient gold and stone pendants with small shell beads between. In very good condition, strung in modern times.

Excerpt from
The Thrill of the Chase, A Memoir, by Forrest Fenn, referencing the necklace:

"One of the prizes in my collection, a Tairona and Sinu Indian necklace from Columbia, it is also part of the treasure. It contains thirty-nine animal fetishes carved from quartz crystal, carnelian, jadeite and other exotic stones. But special to the necklace are two cast gold objects - one, a jaguar claw and the other, a frog with bulbous eyes and legs cocked as if ready to spring. I held the 2,000-year-old piece of jewelry one last time and could almost feel its ancient power, its supremacy, before I finally lowered it into the chest and closed the lid."

Selections from Fenn's Treasure Chest.
