Two Handwritten Letters to John Jay Knox From Philadelphia Mint Superintendent A. Louden Snowden. On Philadelphia Mint Superintendent's Office letterhead. The first letter is dated March 19, 1885, and accompanied the list of medals that is offered elsewhere in this auction. It discusses the medals and Knox's request for them, and notes that the prices quoted are half what the medals were normally sold for. The second letter is dated March 21, 1885, and discusses the shipment of the medals to Knox via express mail, as well as Snowden's intention to visit Knox in New York.From The John Jay Knox Collection.
