Description

1989 Silver Eagle, MS70
Mercanti Signature Holder

1989 $1 Silver Eagle, Mercanti Signature MS70 PCGS. Demand for Silver Eagles was rising in 1989, resulting in an increased business-strike distribution of 5,203,327 pieces. The present coin is a technically perfect example, with fully struck design elements and impeccably preserved surfaces that radiate vibrant, satiny mint luster from both sides. A few subtle hints of golden-tan toning add to the incredible eye appeal. Although NGC has certified a number of pieces in the ultimate grade of MS70, PCGS has graded very few. A limited number of coins, including the specimen offered here, were housed in special PCGS holders signed by Chief Engraver John M. Mercanti. Population: 3 in 70 (5/16).
