    Description

1999-W $10 Quarter-Ounce Gold Eagle, Unfinished Proof Dies, FS-401, MS68 PCGS. Although the West Point mintmark appeared on proof quarter-ounce gold eagles beginning in 1993, no such mintmark was expected on the Uncirculated finish pieces. Nonetheless, select 1999 examples have a W mintmark, perhaps due to higher sales inspired by Y2K publicity. A fully struck and satiny apricot-gold representative. (NGC ID# 26MG, Variety PCGS# 511607, Base PCGS# 99942)

    Weight: 8.48 grams
