Description

1878 7 Over 8 Tailfeathers Dollar, MS65+
VAM-37, 7/4 Strong

1878 7/8TF $1 7/4 Strong, VAM-37, MS65+ PCGS. Hints of tan toning visit this thoroughly lustrous and precisely struck silver dollar. The middle tail feathers are doubled south. The reverse is well preserved, and the obverse displays only scattered wispy marks. The doubled tailfeathers seen on several 1878 die varieties were caused by hubbing a Type Two reverse over a Type One reverse.
