Description

Conditionally Rare 1878 7/8TF Strong Morgan Dollar, MS66

1878 7/8TF $1 Strong MS66 PCGS. Five tips of previous tailfeathers can be discerned, peeking out from beneath the five middle feathertips of this 7-tailfeather specimen. One of the "convex" breast coins, of which there were approximately 2 million struck, according to the Bowers silver dollar Encyclopedia (the same source gives an estimate of 7.2 million "flat" breast pieces minted in business strike format). This satiny example displays just a bit of light toning, which is slightly more apparent on the reverse. The design motifs are crisply produced, and there are no glaring defects on either side of the coin. Population: 5 in 66, 0 finer (10/08).
