    1878 Eight Tailfeathers Dollar

    1878 8TF $1 MS64 Deep Prooflike NGC. VAM-14.6. A die chip on the earlobe is diagnostic. Per VAMworld.com, "the VAM-14.6 is rare in all grades ... 25-40 specimens estimated." None are certified as VAM-14.6 in MS65 or finer grades. The present near-Gem is undesignated since it resides in a prior generation holder. Intricately struck and flashy with peripheral glimpses of rose-red and sea-green toning.(Registry values: P5, N1793)
