Description

Premium Gem 1878-CC Morgan Dollar
First Date of Type

1878-CC $1 MS66 PCGS. CAC. From a mintage of 2.2 million pieces, the 1878-CC Morgan dollar is reasonably available in grades up to the Premium Gem level, but almost impossible to find in any higher grade. Currently PCGS and NGC have combined to certify only 13 coins in higher numeric grades (8/10). The present coin is a spectacular example, with brilliant surfaces and vibrant mint luster. The strike is exemplary, but the eagle's breast seems a little flat, as on all examples seen, because of the design. Housed in a green label holder.(Registry values: P4, N2998)
