Description
1879 $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1879 Morgan dollar is an underrated and elusive coin in Gem condition, despite its large mintage approaching 15 million coins. Its subsequent scarcity in high grade is almost certainly a function of melting under the 1918 Pittman Act. The present piece is a radiant, frosty silver Gem, certified in an old-style green-label holder, pristine for the grade.(Registry values: P4, N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 253S, PCGS# 7084, GSID# 7428)
