Description
1879 $1 MS66 NGC. This is a lustrous, white Gem example of the conditionally rare 1879, which is only occasionally available in Premium Gem condition and virtually unavailable when any finer. Brilliant throughout, the nearly unmarked surfaces of this coin exude soft-frosted mint luster. The sharp strike delivers well brought-up devices with only a hint of softness above the ear and on the eagle's talons. The 1879 is scarce in such a superior state of preservation. Census: 84 in 66 (4 in 66+, 2 in 66 ★ ), 5 finer (5/18).From The East End Collection. (Registry values: P4, N1793)
