MS62 1879-CC Morgan Dollar
Capped Die, VAM-3, Top 100

1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS62 PCGS. CAC. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. The Guide Book variety with extensive chipping (as made) near the mintmark, a mint worker's attempt to conceal the initial use of an incorrect (Small CC instead of the proper Medium CC) punch. This lustrous better-date Carson City Morgan has dappled orange-gold obverse toning, with a slender band of ocean-blue inside the rim. The cream-gray reverse adds light golden-brown around the periphery. Abrasions are minimal for the grade, although the strike is typically soft at the centers.(Registry values: P6, N1793)
