Sharp 1879-CC Capped Die Morgan Dollar, MS62
1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS62 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. While the Capped Die (Medium over Small Mintmark) variety is less popular than its Perfect Mintmark counterpart, it is actually scarcer, particularly in high grades. The present piece has a touch of violet and russet toning at the upper right quadrant of both sides. Scintillating luster in the fields highlights the powerfully impressed design elements. Myriad abrasions limit the grade, but none are particularly significant. (Registry values: P6, N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 7088, GSID# 7451)
