Description

MS63 Capped Die 1879-CC Dollar

1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS63 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. This much better date Carson City dollar is delicately toned in chestnut and pearl-gray shades. Cartwheel luster sweeps both sides, and the sole remotely mentionable mark is a slender reeding impression beneath TRUST. In the 1970s, collectors were leery of VAM-3 for its granular mintmark, but its scarcity and significance is better understood today.(Registry values: P6, N2998)
