Choice 1879-CC Morgan Dollar
Scarcer Capped Die Variety
1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS64 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. A
lovely Choice example of this low-mintage Carson City Morgan
dollar, this coin is sharply struck, with bright, frosty mint
luster. The less available Capped Die variety resulted when a
smaller CC mintmark was partially effaced from the die, and a
larger CC was struck over it. Only 16 coins have been certified in
higher numeric grades by PCGS and NGC combined (8/10).From The Helen Gates Kirk Collection.(Registry values: P6, N2998)
