Description
Lustrous 1879-CC Dollar, MS64
VAM-3, Capped Die
1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS64 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety.
Actually a repunched mintmark variety, with the medium CC mintmark
over a smaller one, though the die chipping around the date is far
more noticeable. Reddish-purple patina concentrates at the margins
of this near-Gem. Lustrous surfaces exhibit well struck design
features and reveal some minute marks that preclude Gem status.
PCGS has seen only eight coins finer (4/09). Housed in a green
label holder.(Registry values: P6, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 7088, GSID# 7451)
