Luminous Near-Gem 1879-CC Capped Die Dollar
1879-CC $1 Capped Die MS64 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. The so-called "Capped Die," though it is more properly termed the Medium Over Small Mintmark. This near-Gem offers excellent quality and eye appeal. Subtle silver, rose-gray, and gold shadings drape each side, and hints of frostiness visit the central devices. PCGS has graded only eight finer examples for the variety (4/09).(Registry values: P6, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 7088, GSID# 7451)
