Capped Die Variant
1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, Top 100, MS63 PCGS. The
remnants of an undertype CC are evident blow the primary mintmark
of this impressive Select specimen, identifying the famous Capped
Die variety. This piece exhibits sharply detailed design elements
in most areas, with just a trace of blending on the hair above the
ear. The lustrous surfaces are appropriately marked for the grade.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 253T, Variety PCGS# 133869, Base PCGS# 7088, Greysheet# 193681)
