Description

Brilliant Gem 1879-O Dollar

1879-O $1 MS65 NGC. A great many 1879-O dollars were released into circulation at the time of issue. Undoubtedly, much of this widespread circulation was from pent-up demand for coinage, as the 1879-O dollar was the first silver dollar struck in the New Orleans mint since 1860. This is an especially attractive example that shows thick, satiny mint luster with virtually none of the abrasions that are normally associated with this issue. Brilliant and sharply struck.
