Description

Conditionally Scarce Gem 1879-O Morgan Dollar

1879-O $1 MS65 PCGS. Long regarded as one of the more important condition rarities among New Orleans Morgan dollars, the typical '79-O is far too bagmarked and poorly struck to merit consideration at such a lofty level as this piece. This is an extraordinary example that should interest even the most advanced collector in this series. The devices are sharply struck and exceedingly frosty while the fields are bright and lustrous, and have avoided virtually all signs of coin-to-coin contact. Brilliant and untoned throughout.
