Description
Lustrous 1879-S Dollar, MS68
1879-S $1 MS68 NGC. The 1879-S exists with two major reverse varieties. One displays a parallel top arrow feather, which is rare, and the other a slanting top arrow feather. This MS68 specimen is the second, or more common variety. Lustrous surfaces are untoned save for a sliver of gold color at the upper left obverse rim, and an exacting strike imparts crisp detail to the devices. Some light marks are visible under high magnification, and what appears to be a linear strikethrough is located at the lower left obverse rim.(Registry values: P1, N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 253X, PCGS# 7092, GSID# 7456)
