Description

1879-S Morgan Dollar, MS68+
Essentially Flawless
The Ideal Type Coin

1879-S $1 MS68+ PCGS. CAC. Bold striking detail and radiant cartwheel luster define this beautiful Morgan dollar. One microscopic toning spot near the corner of Liberty's eye serves as a pedigree marker, but the surfaces of this coin are otherwise essentially flawless.
Although widely recognized as a common date in the series, the 1879-S Morgan dollar becomes conditionally rare in the highest reaches of the grade spectrum. The MS68+ grade of the present example is the top of the line, with only 16 certifications at PCGS. Furthermore, when non-Plus MS68 examples are included, just over 1 in 6 have obtained CAC stickers. This beautiful example will satisfy even the most discerning specialist. PCGS Population: 16 in 68+, 0 finer (3/26). CAC: 75 in 68, 0 finer (3/26).(Registry values: P1, N1793)
