Reverse of 1878
1879-S $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-39, MS64 PCGS. A Top 100
Variety. Much scarcer than the Reverse of 1879, this Reverse of
1878 example is sharply struck and lightly toned at the border in
reddish-gold and lemon-gold hues. Frosted central devices are free
of serious marks and abrasions. Light field chatter exists from the
nose to the under-chin area, while luster grazes at the neck are of
only minor notice. Complementary toning fills the reverse margins,
