    1880 $1 8/7 Ears AU50 PCGS. VAM-8. A Top 100 Variety. "Ear" remnants from the crossbar of an underdigit 7 are noted at the top of the second 8. The remainder of the underdigit was lapped from the die prior to use. The reverse displays the two diagnostic die scratches on the right (facing) wing. Much rarer than the better known VAM-4 through VAM-6 overdated 1880-CC dollars. Population: 6 in 50, 9 finer (11/13).
