Seldom Seen Gem 1880 Morgan Dollar

1880 $1 MS66 PCGS. More than 12 million 1880 silver dollars were struck under the provisions of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878. Many were dropped into circulation at the time of issue, and a sizeable number must have also been melted under the Pittman Act of 1918. As a result, in spite of the large mintage, Gem 1880 dollars have been a well-known condition rarity for decades. This is a brilliant coin that has smooth mint frost over each side and a clean cheek on Liberty's face. Fully struck in all areas. Population: 75 in 66, 0 finer (6/07).
