Description

Overdate 1880-CC Dollar, MS66 1880/79-CC $1 Reverse of 1878 MS66 PCGS. Probably no more than 10% to 20% of 1880-CC dollars survive with recognizable underdigits beneath the 80. On this coin, the 79 is especially strong. As such, this is both an absolute as well as a condition rarity among early Morgan dollars. As with all Carson City dollars, the surfaces are thickly frosted. As the mint luster swirls around each side, there are no obvious or detracting abrasions. Sharply struck also. Population: 48 in 66, 0 finer (6/07).
