Description

Popular 1880-CC 8 Over High 7 Dollar, MS66

1880-CC $1 8 Over High 7 MS66 PCGS. VAM-5. A Top 100 Variety. The overdate feature and VAM are undesignated on the PCGS green label, but there is clear evidence of the crossbar and upright of a high underdigit 7 within the second 8 of the date; just a slight portion of the base of the 7 shows beneath the 8. The radiantly lustrous surfaces of this Premium Gem display just the slightest hint of light tan speckles under high magnification. Partially prooflike fields establish mild contrast with the well struck motifs. A few minor luster grazes are consistent with the grade designation, and there are some light obverse as-made roller marks. Population: 58 in 66 8 Over High 7, 5 finer (7/07).
