Description

1880-CC Morgan Dollar, MS66
VAM-3A, Reverse of 1879

1880-CC $1 Reverse of 1879, 8/7 Dash, VAM-3A, MS66 PCGS. A brilliant Premium Gem example of this Reverse of 1879 Morgan, with sharply struck motifs and highly lustrous, satiny silver surfaces. Liberty's cheek and the surrounding fields are virtually unabraded and mark-free. Struck from clashed dies, this is a late VAM-3 die state, with a bulging reverse die break near the uppermost berry on the left wreath branch. Additional die breaks fill much of In God We Trust, with a prominent vertical crack from the wing to n of In. A dash sits closely below the second 8 in the date, a remnant of an underdigit 7. Housed in an old green label holder.
