Description

Charming Gem 1880-O Dollar

1880-O $1 MS65 NGC. CAC. Shining surfaces are essentially silver-white with only the faintest hints of patina or color. The strike is excellent by almost any standard, and whispers of delightful frost add interest to the well-preserved central devices. Excellent eye appeal does justice to the grade. Despite an ample mintage of over 5.3 million pieces, the 1880-O dollar is unknown for the reflectivity category above MS65 (11/08); surprisingly, save for brief comments about a lack of availability in MS64 and finer grades, this passes without mention in most numismatic references.
