1880-S Morgan Dollar, MS68+
CAC-Approved Registry Contender
1880-S $1 MS68+ NGC. CAC. VAM-31. This variety shows a
slightly doubled date and the large S mintmark is tilted left. The
1880-S Morgan dollar is often available in MS68, albeit for a
price, since it is one of the most plentiful dates in the series
and is a hugely popular type coin. However, MS68 coins with a Plus
designation such as this one are quite challenging, and anything
finer is extremely rare, as NGC shows only five pieces in MS69
(9/25). For most collectors, the current offering is the finest
grade obtainable for the 1880-S dollar. The coin is brilliant,
sharp, and radiantly lustrous. Essentially flawless surfaces dazzle
