Description
Exemplary MS68 1881-S Morgan Dollar
1881-S $1 MS68 NGC. CAC. The 1881-S is one of the best-produced issues in the Morgan dollar series, prompting David Bowers (2006) to write: "Specimens nearly always are sharply struck and beautiful." This MS68 example is even nicer than usually seen, with shimmering cartwheel luster, satin-smooth surfaces, and a bold strike, further enhanced by loving post-strike preservation. Liberty's cheek is essentially immaculate, and the light gold, plum, and blue rim toning completes a marvelous package. Certified in a prior generation NGC holder.(Registry values: P1, N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2549, PCGS# 7130, GSID# 7486)
