Description

1881-S Morgan Dollar, MS68
Remarkable Preservation

1881-S $1 MS68? NGC. The 1881-S is a type issue readily obtained in most Mint State grades. But only a tiny fraction of examples meet the exacting standards of the lofty MS68 grade. In turn, among those virtually pristine pieces, just a slender portion have secured an NGC Star designation, indicative of superior eye appeal for the grade. This lustrous and intricately struck Morgan dollar offers semiprooflike fields and frosty motifs. A whisper of tan-gold toning visits the eagle. The surface preservation is extraordinary. NGC has graded only two numerically finer examples (3/26).(Registry values: P1, N1793)
