1882 Dollar, MS66+ Prooflike
Brilliant Registry-Grade Piece, CAC
1882 $1 MS66+ Prooflike PCGS. CAC. Glass-like fields and
richly frosted devices deliver stark black-on-white contrast on the
fully brilliant surfaces of this 1882 Plus-graded Premium Gem.
Trivial luster grazes and a couple of minor field nicks do not
prevent a high grade. The strike is slightly soft on the hair over
the ear and on the eagle's talons, otherwise details are sharp. A
dazzling cartwheel effect delivers exceptional eye appeal.From a mintage of 11.1 million pieces, this PCGS example is tied with just one other coin at NGC in MS66+ Prooflike, and neither report any finer in Prooflike (11/25). While both services show Deep Mirror Prooflike coins, neither report any that are numerically finer than this remarkable Prooflike example. This 1882 Morgan is an ideal candidate for Registry collectors.(Registry values: P3, N2998)
