Description
Rare 1882-O/S VAM-4 Dollar, MS64, Late Die State
1882-O/S $1 MS64 Strong PCGS. VAM-4. Later die state of VAM-4, what Fey and Oxman in the Top 100 reference call "1882-O/S Recessed." The diagonal crossbar of the S completely traverses the interior of the O, but it is lower than on the VAM-3 or "O/S Flush." In this later die state, the top and bottom edges of the S are clear, as well as the middle area of the S. This piece has beautiful silvery surfaces accented by golden rim toning, with a few light abrasions that account for the grade. A definite find for the VAM collectors.(Registry values: P5, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 254D, PCGS# 7138, GSID# 7513)
